Resurrections are cheaper -- quite a lot cheaper, really -- when you have the corpse. Even a little piece of the corpse can save a lot of trouble. There are standard societal processes which reflect that fact, when somebody is otherwise slated for resurrection.
And Count Quirze Zacarías Espino y Aspramunt has neglected to mention that he might prefer not to be resurrected, this time around, as might have maybe saved somebody else some trouble.
But none of this will end up being much important, to anyone important, or having very much impact on the larger story.
Though, of course, that notion itself depends on who you consider to be the main character, and what you think is the story.
